My students need high interest reading material to fall in love with reading and learning.

My Students
I adore all my students. Most of my students live with extended family, meaning they share a bedroom with at least two other family members. They do not have the financial resources to buy books of high interest, nor do they have the space to read. This is the reason why I would like to get my project funded. I would love to provide the classroom enviroment and the reading materials for my students.
I work at a public charter school that serves socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
Almost all students here are on free or reduced lunch and many of our students are English Language Learners. Their first language is either Armenian or Spanish.
At the school where I work, teachers are responsible for funding their own field trips, classrooms, and extracurricular activities. Besides holding a reading intervention after school club, I am also coming to work before school to hold an 8th Grade Girls Running Club. I am volunteering my time because I know this is what the kids need. I would love to give even more but I cannot afford to do so. I am currently clearing my teaching credential through a University Induction Program at SDSU.
My Project
I went ahead and told my students that if they currently do not like to read, it's probably because they're not reading books they like. My students need these books so that they are exposed to literature that hits close to home for them. They need to read books they identify with, books that inspire them.
My students cannot afford to buy their own lunch, let alone books from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
I know the public library is there for me and my students, but it is difficult for me to check out a class set of a particular book.
These books would not only serve to help build a love of reading, but also as a window into a bigger world than my students currently know.
