Middle School Tennis Program

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn tennis, a sport not often practiced by young people or African American students.

My Project

This was the first year for my middle school tennis club. Unfortunately, there was not enough interest for the club to get to play-in. I want to do some camps and other programs with the middle school students to drive interest in a sport that doesn't always catch the eye of young people or African American students. These supplies, including racquets, balls and a tennis ball machine will give me the opportunity to introduce tennis to my students.

My daughter has been playing the sport since she was 5 and has gotten very good at her craft.

I hope to help her continue to progress while showing my elementary and middle school student what it looks like for someone to learn the sport of tennis and love it enough to become good at it. Its one thing to see them on TV, its another to have them right in front of you playing, and enjoying this sport. It is always an amazing thing to introduce students to new things.

This is not my first Donors Choose project, but it is my first with my new school. I am so excited to be working with them on this new endeavor. I started working with my daughter, practicing and then graduating to coaching her. I have been blessed to be able to coach on a different level. Help me give this program the jump start that will make it great! Thank you in advance.
