The students in my classroom benefit from frequent brain breaks in order to improve concentration and relieve stress. We value physical movement in our math classroom and incorporate ways to include it into instruction.
The students in my classroom are newcomers to the United States and often speak little or no English.
Over 93% of the students that I work with are considered to be living in poverty and receive free or reduced lunches. These students often enter my classroom with very little formal classroom experience and have to be taught how to perform in a respectful way in the classroom. My students are very eager to work hard but often need brain breaks throughout instruction to let the concepts take hold.
My Project
By using the Wobble Chairs within my classroom, students will have the opportunity to move while sitting during instruction. The stools allow for motion that does not interrupt instruction which proves to be fantastic for students that have trouble remaining still. If students can move freely on their own chairs, I know that their intellectual processing will improve and allow focus to be on successfully learning the math and English content in my classroom.
By having these wobble chairs donated to my classroom, I know that my students will work even harder than they already do.
Their ability to stay in motion while training their minds to stay engaged, students will learn how to be more successful in school. Since I primarily work with 6th graders that loop with me through their 7th and 8th grade years, my students will have many opportunities to benefit from these donations.
