The students in my classroom are newcomers to the United States and often speak little or no English. Over 93% of the students that I work with are considered to be living in poverty and receive free or reduced lunches. These students often enter my classroom with very little formal classroom experience and have to be taught how to perform in a respectful way in the classroom. My students are very eager to work hard but often need brain breaks throughout instruction to let the concepts take hold.
