I teach middle school level students with varying disabilities. Some of my students need a safe place to calm down, diffuse anger, and balance their emotions. Most of the time, the regular classroom is not the best place for this. As middle schoolers, they are very aware of their peers and want a safe, more private space to self-regulate.
My school has a sensory room for students to go to, but it needs to be livened up.
The light covers will help it be peaceful. The lava lamp and light up cube will help students feel calm. The soft ottoman stools will be a great place for teachers and students to sit. The gel pads will be a fun fidget to help students return to a regulated and calm state.
