Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students spend most of their day learning math and literacy and truly look forward to finally unleashing their creativity. I partnered with "Little Kids Rock" which makes music more enjoyable and accessible to students. These guitars will allow ALL my students to participate & make music!
I teach in a low-income area where students have very limited access to musical instruments and music instruction.
For many of my middle schoolers, I am the first music teacher they have ever had! We spend three years together and I help them rise from a novice, to a true musician. I have a diverse group of musicians and students who enjoy music and are always looking to explore new ways to create and perform.
My Project
These guitars will work in conjunction with my recent partnership with "Little Kids Rock." This incredible organization made a generous donation to help my school begin a Modern Band Program. With their help, we received some instruments to begin playing, but in order to make this program accessible to all students, we still need some additional guitars. With these 10 guitars, it will help assure that every child has a guitar in his or her hands and is fully able to participate in music-making every class!
Giving a child an instrument is providing them with the gift of music.
This is something many of us take for granted, or were never lucky enough to have. Music education is essential for children to have a well-rounded and quality education. Please support my students and help my kids ROCK!
