it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The student at our school are extremely diverse, anxious to learn, and ready to connect with school culture. Our district is one of the most diverse in California with many languages, cultures, and proficiency levels. Many of our students come anxious and ready to learn.
Diversity is a beautiful gift in our urban Title I school.
There are still populations of students who feel disconnected and alienated from school culture. Besides academics we are constantly focused on social skills, and problem solving.
My Project
Have you ever heard Youth Radio? We are going to produce a school podcast with stories, interview, reviews, and music that engages our community and bring students and their families together. We will use the controller to learn mixing skills so students can play music for school events like volley ball, soccer, and football games, as well as academic events like family science night. Students have been asking me for years to teach them to DJ but without the hardware it is nearly impossible. Student will feel more connection with school culture, learn real world skills, and have fun at the same time.
