Spring is the perfect time to dive into poetry! Many students have a hard time connecting with poetry and understanding the figurative language. My classes will read a wide range and diversity of poetry through history to modern day. We will incorporate arts integration to help get their creative juices flowing. Students will collaborate with others to hear their peers' poems and share their own, enhancing their relationship building skills and their sense of belonging and community.
Since I teach English learners, this project will touch upon each language domain - reading of poetry, writing our own poetry, listening to others' poetry, and speaking our own poetry!
