This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Because of space constraints in my school, our middle grades chorus has to rehearse in the gym. The only keyboard we have access to is low quality, and we can't move a piano into the gym. My students need a good, portable digital piano to match their musicianship.

The majority of students in my school receive reduced or free lunch.

Many of them come from low-income families and live in subsidized housing. They are middle grades students (6-8) in a K-8 school in Massachusetts. They are resilient, energetic, and musical. They deserve the best.

My Project

A portable digital piano will allow our chorus rehearsals to be much more musical and professional. With this instrument, I will be able to accompany my students more musically than I can with a cheaper keyboard, and so the students will more deeply learn and feel the music. The students have grown by leaps and bounds even in their first year together as an ensemble, and they are ready to take on a more professional sound.

Your donation will bring a quality, active music-making experience to deserving middle grades students in a low-income, urban setting.

Music has proved to be a life-changing and life-saving experience for many of our students. The donation of this keyboard will create a higher level, more professional experience for our students, and thus will help to inspire students toward continuing to develop their musicianship. Great music can change lives.
