Help me give my students felt, sewing needles, and embroidery thread to introduce them to sewing and create fun creatures to keep as a fun memory of middle school.
I teach 6th-8th grade students who crave hands-on projects in the art room. The art classroom is the perfect place for kids to get introduced to various kinds of media they might not ever have a chance to experience otherwise. This is why I am hoping to get my students into sewing with felt.
The art room has plenty of paper, paint, and drawing material but could really use hands on materials such as felt, sewing needles, and embroidery thread so that these middle school students can be exposed to beginning sewing.
Not only is sewing fun for students but it is also a very useful skill that will benefit them in the future. The sewing materials would be used to introduce the students to beginning stitching and enable them to make their very own stuffed animal to keep for themselves of give away as a gift.
