My Students

Sometimes it feels like the world is already against the kids in my class. I want them to feel like school is a place to belong, to be cherished and most importantly, to learn. I am amazed at what these kids bring to the table and the knowledge they share with others.

Despite their obstacles, they are phenomenal learners and amazing students.

While each student comes from a different background, it is important for them to come together and understand how to lift others up and create a world where all people feel that they belong. They are the future. They deserve to be given the chance to learn how to make the most of it.

My Project

We just completed a project involving screen printing designs. The students had to carve out their designs on poster board. While this is great practice, students were missing out on the ability to create things that they were actually impressed with and wanted to wear after completion. I supplemented their designs using my own personal Cricut but I would like to provide another cricut for my students to use. Providing a Cricut will open up opportunities for students to create digital designs and print stencils for their screen printing process.

Digital skills are extremely relevant at this point in education and the more experience they have with digital media in the arts, the more avenues they will have to create their wonderful works.

Having a classroom Cricut opens up many doors and is especially helpful in meeting Digital Art Standards.
