Middle School Band Essentials!

Help me give my students ability to bolster their band programs with needed essentials! The Alesis Keyboard controller will greatly increase the student's ability to create their own recordings and save them on their Chromebooks.

My Students

I teach traditional band at a Title I School in Durham, NC. My students are an ethnically and socio-economically diverse group, and during the course of the day, they come together and form a musical ensemble that represents their rich cultural backgrounds. They also have a wide array of musical talents, including instrument performance, composition, and arranging.

My Project

This project is a mix of band room essentials that the LGMS band program needs. Some of these items have been lost during the last 2 years due to long-term virtual learning.

My students will use items like reeds, instrument stands, drum sticks on an everyday basis while rehearsing during class time.

The drum sticks and reeds will provide supplemental support to students whose families cannot afford to pay for instrument accessories out of pocket. The instrument care/cleaning kits will help ensure that my student's instruments stay clean and my classroom stays Covid-19-free! Some of the items have been on our wish list, and we are finally getting the chance to purchase them if this project is completed! If this project is funded, these items will immediately go to use in the classroom, and in the student's home environment. The Alesis keyboard controller will strengthen the student's ability to create their own compositions/arrangements using their instruments and their Durham Public Schools Chromebooks.

With the proper instrument supply-support items listed in this project, the day-to-day operation of the LGMS band program will run like a well-oiled machine!
