My Students

We are a large neighborhood school on Chicago’s northwest side. We have over 1100 students enrolled K-8. Middle grade students are atypically inquisitive and empathetic with their peers.

Academically, our students perform very well across the content areas with a segment performing exceptionally in Math and Science.

Overall attendance is high at our school. My impression is that students are enthusiastic about coming to school. At our school about 49% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. According to Great Schools 57% of our students are considered low income. We have a range of ethnic backgrounds in our school.

My Project

Engaging in design and engineering activities requires various tools that come up from time to time. A new, sturdy pencil sharpener is needed as well as wire sculpting materials and other tools for creating models and prototypes.

Additionally, we are asking for a model of a T-Rex as a mascot and an additional robotic vehicle for one of our clubs.

All of these things help to enhance and support the various activities our students dive into. Every time we get something new it helps to engage another student and their works.
