My Project
My students will delve into the complex history of redlining through an interactive and engaging lesson using four Monopoly games. This project aims to transform abstract concepts into tangible experiences, fostering empathy and critical thinking. By playing, students will simulate real-world scenarios, analyzing property values, resource distribution, and the long-term economic consequences of discriminatory housing policies. They will gain a deeper understanding of systemic inequality and its lasting impact on communities. These games will be invaluable tools for teaching social justice, empowering students to become informed, active citizens. This hands-on approach will bring history to life, making the often-difficult topic of redlining accessible and impactful, promoting meaningful discussions and a deeper understanding of historical injustices.
