Mid-Century Modern (Flexible) Seating for 21st Century Learners
Help me give my students comfortable and dependable furniture such as a lamp, cushions, futon, and coffee table that helps promote collaboration in the library media center.
I feel so fortunate to work in a district with such wonderful students, parents, and teachers! The kiddos are truly amazing. Each day they come to school ready to learn with smiles on their faces. It is apparent that love our school.
My goal, as their librarian, is to provide educational opportunities that will increase their desire to learn and better themselves.
I want each and every student to get the most out of school that they possibly can. I want their lives to be positively impacted.
My Project
Flexible seating is such a beneficial component in students' learning. Because of this newfound arrangement, collaborative opportunities are more seamless, providing an ease of communication and increased comfort level to all users.
As the librarian, I want to provide ALL learners with an aesthetically pleasing, calming atmosphere conducive to learning.
The futon, coffee table, floor lamp, and plant will provide just that- a beautiful, relaxing area in the library media center.
With more and more cases of attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity disorder, as well as all of the spectrum disorders that impact concentration being diagnosed daily, being able to accommodate for these students' needs is not merely a want, but a necessity.
Providing a comfortable seating area inside the library where students can focus and work at their own pace can help assure that they have everything they need.
