My Students
I am so excited to introduce my students. They are eager learners who love to participate in hands-on laboratory activities. It is vital that these students have access and opportunities to learn by doing. This is how they learn.
My school is a Title-I school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Their learning opportunities are limited to the resources and experiences they have access. The students have also been learning via virtual platforms. It is time to accelerate their learning by providing scientific skills which will prepare students for college and careers related to science.
The students being exposed to this laboratory activity are required to take a state assessment which affects their overall final grade for the course. The students need as much exposure to standard-based activities to help them not only retain information but to develop laboratory skills. Being able to apply what they have learned is fundamental to their success in the course.
My Project
Students learn about lab equipment at the beginning of the school year. However, resources are limited to allow them to put their learning into practice. The microslide lesson sets will give students the opportunity to practice the beginners' skills to use a microscope.
The skills to properly use a microscope is expected for those majoring in science related fields or pursuing certain science related careers.
Students will being developing the necessary skills with the use of the microslide lesson sets. The teachers will implement the laboratory activities as lab stations. For each unit, the students will engage in a lab station specific to microslides usage. This will give students exposure throughout the course.
