This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students ask many interesting questions, they're curious about the world around them - they're eager to find reasons as to why things happen and they truly enjoy sharing their thoughts. It's only been the first week of school, and these are only some reasons that explain why I love the enthusiasm my students have for science. Let me explain why this is deemed to be unusual.
My students are full of energy, curiosity, and are a strong-minded group of individuals living in a neighborhood that doesn't seem to nurture that yet.
Through the excitement of finally having a science teacher at their school, I want to be able to give them the necessary tools that are used in the science world so they can best nurture that natural curiosity through hands-on activities.
My Project
I find that microscopes are one of the items people see in a science classroom. I have a top three of the items I want for my students to have and that would be lab tables, goggles, & microscopes.
My students have never used a microscope before and are extremely curious as to what they can see under one.
I would like to give them the opportunity to use a microscope and see the details within the specimens we plan on observing for science.
These materials will make all the difference in preparing them for high school when they are able to use a microscope again and dive into the high school content already knowing the basics on how to use a microscope.
