Help me give my students a microscope and a few specimens to look at. This will allow them to see smaller microscopic particles.

My Students
I work with the most at youth risk in Philadelphia. Students who do not always know where the next meal will come from or if they will have heat at night. Most of my students go through more in a week then I have in my whole life. With all that going on they still come to school to get an education and make the best of what they have. They love to be able to connect core concepts to real life. That’s when you see the “light go off”.
My Project
The microscopes and specimens will allow my students to observe and have a deeper understanding of microscopic organisms. It does not matter how well I explain it, being able to observe and compare samples will help give them a more detailed look at organisms. This will not only help in the day to day lesson but will carry over to state Keystone Testing in the spring. Prior to graduation students are required to pass the Biology Keystone. Being able to use and understand the microscope can help them grasp a profound understanding of the material and better prepare them for the test.
