This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I will continue to have the pleasure of teaching and assisting in building our gifted program. I have a growing class of about 20- 4th-grade students and 20 - 5th-grade students. They are smart, funny, witty, and highly capable students who deserve every resource money can buy to help them succeed in education and in life.
These students need a variety of projects to express their individuality of the topics they are learning.
In order to provide an optimal Math and Science learning setting, classroom STEAM materials are required. Giftedness comes with its own quirkiness that needs someone who understands their differences.
Each student is different in the way they learn, perform, makes friends and have fun, etc. Giftedness also comes with a mind that is always in overdrive filled with never-ending questions. My hope is to answer a lot of those questions in the short time I have these students.
My Project
My students have extremely curious minds! They always have questions about earth and nature. This year they grew sugar crystals and wanted to investigate what they looked like closer with a microscope since that is what their textbook was describing. Thanks to Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens for bringing in microscopes for the students to investigate DNA of strawberries, the students discovered a few found love of investigating things closer and learned about what it might be like to be a research scientist.
I would love to bring more stories to life and answer some of their nagging questions that are impossible without a microscope.
We are requesting investigative scientific microscopes and related materials to aid them in their scientific investigation.
I want them to use the adapter on their cell phones and take pictures of nature when we are outside in the garden.
