My Students

I have the opportunity to work with some of the greatest students in the world. My job as the technology director of our school district allows me to work with students across all grade levels.

Our school is a very small, rural school district in southwest Missouri with roughly 380 students K-12.

Coming from a small school, my students do not have the opportunity to experience some of the same things that larger schools provide. I look for ways to change that every day and provide the very best education possible for my students.

My Project

Technology is apart of our lives every single day and every child uses technology to accomplish task and have fun. Yet how many of us or students know how that technology works?

Knowing how technology works allows students to better understand how to fully utilize technology in the future.

Jobs in the STEM field are expected to continue to grow, so we need to prepare our students for that future. Micro:bits are a small, very portable computer that allows students to explore the basics of coding and programming. We can use these Micro:bits with our Chromebooks and other devices to program code that reacts to movement, g-force changes, temperature, and so much more.

I truly believe that technology is our future. While technology does not replace teachers, it can be utilized by teachers to enhance the education we are providing to our students. Micro:bits are just a part of that technology we can utilize to help students understand how coding and programming works on everyday devices.
