My Students

My students are curious and creative and I want them to be prepared to achieve their goals and dreams.

My students are are ready to learn and achieve great things.

They may not have the advantages of students in more urban, technology rich areas, but the come to school ready to learn and grow both personally and academically.

My students come from a rural, farming community that is isolated from other areas of the state. They are African-American, White, Hispanic and Multi-Racial and span the range of middle class to poverty. They want to achieve their goals and dreams. They inspire me every day!

My Project

My students want to learn to write code to program devices to make items they can use.

They want to create something that will make a difference in the lives of those around them.

Microbits can help students begin to learn code and write commands to program things like a pedometer, scrolling marquee sign, items that respond to light, temperature and more. These small devices have built in accelerometers, a compass, 24 programmable LEDs, programmable sensors, wireless and Bluetooth capabilities that can create remote controls for different devices and so much more. Just imagine the inventions they can create!

This is the perfect device to help students bridge between coding for devices like Spheros and more advanced devices like Arduinos.
