My Students

"Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."—Kofi Annan

I have gifted and talented 6th and 8th graders this school year who crave the extra challenge to reach their potential in my classroom.

I would like to support them by providing them the resources that is lacking in my classroom.

My students are curious and motivated learners. They come from very diverse cultural backgrounds, and many are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. I would like to foster their engineering problem solving skills to be competitive at the national level and to prepare them for college and their career as well.

My Project

My students will explore and develop STEM solutions to real world problems. By using sensors with their Micro Bit controllers, they will apply their problem solving and critical thinking skills by creating engineering and coding projects with practical applications. For example, using a gas sensor and potentiometer, my students may create a device that detects toxic gas in automobile once the engine has started. As another example, they may use the humidity sensor and relay module to detect the moisture level on soil with plant and water it as needed. The possibilities are endless.

I am fortunate to teach a group of passionate young minds that are full of potential.

However, several of them are being presented with challenges in life and are in need of extra support and encouragement. They are in need of engaging and thought-provoking activities. I am hoping that with the added technology in the classroom, I will be able to motivate students further, build their confidence, and increase their learning.
