My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want my students to feel safe while gain a valuable education and while working on their mental health.

My students are creative, intelligent and very spontaneous.

They love art, they love to feel supported and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic and mental health excellence.

My Project

In our building, we lack an art class where students are able to explore the world of art, learn about famous artists, and create masterpieces of their own. We don't have enough funding to teach our students basic skills that other students received in different school districts.

By holding an art contest in our building our students are able to unleash their hidden potential are transform into an artist.

This art contest will give them this ability! It will allow our students to shine and succeed in new areas of life. This success will build their self-esteem and their mental flexibility. These students deserve to feel good about something in their lives, be proud of accomplishing a task and then rewarded for all their hard work!
