My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They face challenges in school as well as at home. Some are from single parent homes. Many receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
My students need wireless mice and headphones to fully utilize their classroom technology and enhance their learning experience.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
Not having these items may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
My Project
We use technology several times a week. We do math, write, spelling, tests, reading, and science on the computer. My classroom is not yet at the level of technologically to meet their needs as learners. We write a lot to work on CORE standards in all subjects. I already have space for these items.

We have Chromebooks. The addition of the wireless mice and headphones would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of typing and maneuvering skills on the Chromebooks. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing. Students who are confident with their technology abilities will be ready to face the challenges of higher education and the workplace.
