Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my classroom I have a large population of English Language Learners. In one classroom I have students who speak ten different languages. It is so wonderful to see these students become more confident in their use of English. These students are required to take a test once a year to assess their English Language development. Having enough headphones so that every student has access to them while they are in my classroom allows students to practice listening to English, and also practice speaking in English into the microphone loud enough so that they can be scored.
My students are so hardworking and I want them to have the opportunity to practice skills before they are assessed on them.
When students speak too softly, their scores may not reflect their ability level. With practice using the microphones throughout the year, I hope that they will be able to show the ability on the assessment.
