My Project
My students enter my classroom eager to learn a new language and reach fluency as quickly as possible. But, many fall short of this huge expectation when self-consciousness, fear of making mistakes, and other woes of adolescence complicate their learning journey.
Learning a new language and gaining proficiency requires consistent use and some fearlessness.
Negotiating conversations and situations in another language frequently is the key to successful proficiency gains. But it's not always easy to cultivate this environment authentically in the average school.
TikToks, Reels, vlogs, podcasts and more host the voices of today. I hope to channel these platforms to encourage more speaking opportunities in another language for my students. As a project-based learning school, I dream of high-quality student-created video interviews, vlogs, and podcasts where students investigate and explore culture, history, travel and more. However, professional audio tools like microphones, headphones, cameras, and more are needed to set up a classroom recording studio that can make these projects come alive.
With this project request, I hope to make the speaking activities in my classroom more varied and exciting for the coming school year.
