My Students
The majority of the students at Mason High School are considered economically disadvantaged. Our students experience homelessness, family instability caused by addiction, parent incarceration and learning difficulties.
In spite of these serious challenges, our kids are incredibly high achievers.
Last year, the 46 members of the class of 2016 earned more than $2.5 million dollars in scholarships. They know that hard work pays off. They work at academics, part time jobs, extra curricular activities and volunteering. Resume building is key!
My Project
Our seniors have used the school computers to get into college; now they need their own to take with them when they go! Access to a laptop computer is imperative for success in post-secondary education. Most of our students cannot afford to purchase their own computer. These days even resident college students either take classes on-line or are required to submit work using the internet.
We would love to be able to send at least one lucky senior off to college with a brand new laptop.
We want to award a new laptop to a deserving student (chosen by our faculty) at our school's College Signing Day and Scholarship Awards Ceremony. What an awesome way to start college!
