My Project
I am looking to create a classroom STEM library for research projects. These books will be specifically helpful for our Kindergarten and 3rd Grade students as NGSS has standards that focus on weather and natural disasters. I have books that are only used for read alouds and not student reference. I want to teach my students that other forms of research include reading books. There are upcoming units on weather. Though we do have technology to conduct research, I want to work on different research skills. Additionally, I have a new goal of creating a classroom library. Typically regular classrooms have a library for students to read. I don't have one, but it's important that we get one. There are so many topics in science and engineering.
Reading books is important because it develops students' literacy skills and access to knowledge.
And my students LOVE to read! They are unique, curious, and inquisitive! I want to continue to nurture thatGiving them access to these books would be a great addition, especially since they will need background knowledge for upcoming projects.
