My Project
Our preschool students create art every day, it is one of their favorite activities. We have several opportunities for children to participate in this important aspect of creative, cognitive, social-emotional, and fine motor development including painting or drawing. It is our goal to have students participate in as many different creative outlets as they wish providing them with a valuable outlet for creativity and emotions. Painting and art are preschool standards that are timeless and will always hold an important role in many areas of child development.
Having a variety of paint colors and supplies for children to create helps to satisfy their creative, cognitive, social-emotional, and fine motor development needs.
Currently, we do not have enough of these supplies. We only have 3 colors of paint, red, blue, and yellow. The children still love to paint but imagine offering the world of colors… they would be inspired in ways they haven’t before. Our paint center is lacking essentials such as paint cups that don’t leak, smocks so the children stay semi-clean, a variety of colors, and other supplies to cut, glue and create pieces to then paint. Not having access to these basic supplies is frustrating for me as a teacher. I have paid for some supplies out of my own pocket, but it is not feasible for me to continue this practice. Having this wish fulfilled would help supply our classroom for the entire year and allow us to freely encourage children to create as they wish.
