This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a special group because they are eager learners who thrive when given the opportunity to engage in hands-on, creative activities. They bring curiosity, enthusiasm, and a unique perspective to every project, making our classroom a vibrant and inspiring place.

Many of them have not had the chance to deeply explore cultural traditions outside their own, so this project is a meaningful way to broaden their horizons and foster appreciation for diverse heritages.

As part of our exploration of cultural heritage and craftsmanship, students will be building traditional Guatemalan kites, an art form rich in history and symbolism. This hands-on activity will not only introduce them to the artistic and historical significance of these kites but also strengthen their creativity, patience, and teamwork skills.

By working collaboratively to design and construct their kites, they will develop a sense of pride in their work and a deeper connection to global cultures.

I am reaching out to request help with materials for this exciting cultural project. To successfully carry out this activity, we would greatly appreciate donations of materials such as tissue paper, glue sticks, string, and scissors.

We will use this material to create the kites Any support you can provide would be invaluable in making this learning experience engaging, enriching, and memorable for my students.
