My students need art supplies to help them understand biology. We build models using clay and pipe cleaners, color different structures and make posters using markers and colored pencils, and use whiteboards to solve difficult problems.
I teach Biology and College Credit Biology to approximately 120 students each year at a high-poverty urban school.
I use art supplies during lab activities to teach difficult concepts to my students.
The supplies for all of these activities can get quite costly and I frequently have to purchase them myself.
My classes serve a wide variety of students. I have both advanced 10-12 graders in my college credit course and freshmen in my regular biology course. In my classroom, I have many students with disabilities and English language learners. These students tend to succeed more when actively learning. They need supplies to make this happen.
My Project
My science classes learn through activities. We frequently engage in labs and projects. Supplies for labs are quite costly and my budget does not stretch as far as I need it to. I would appreciate your help in purchasing these basic essentials.
My students love using art supplies to explore science!
My classroom is an active place and students need supplies to be engaged in their work. Throughout the year, we use art supplies to build various biological models, color difficult structures, and make posters of various concepts. We also need whiteboards so we can do things like practice solving Punnet Squares or pairing up DNA bases. My supplies are dwindling, and I could use your help to get more so I can afford to provide even more exciting lab experiments and activities for my students.
