Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

During the school year, we will explore many skills and concepts in reading, such as cause and effect, sequencing, summarizing, main idea, and making predictions. Read aloud mentor texts will allow my students to hear a quality text that was designed with those specific skills in mind.

Mentor texts provide great read aloud opportunities for students to hear and experience quality texts that connect with not only the reading skills but also their lives and experiences.

My goal for this project is to be able to provide students with these excellent read aloud texts that correlate with our reading standards, curriculum, and skills. I want students to hear how these skills are used in texts so they will be able to learn how to include them within their own reading and writing.
