Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project would help my students have more resources for the calming corner set up in our library. We have found that the calming corner is great assistance to our students. It is a resource that our students can utilize when they are experiencing anxiety, sadness, grief, etc. Students can use the breathing light to assist in breathing techniques to learn and take home with them. Mandala coloring pages will assist students with slowing down and processing what is happening during their day. The feelings graphics will assist students in easily identify how they are feeling to assist in self-awareness. Students can utilize the sound machine and fountain as a calming tool when they are overwhelmed. Students utilize and frequently request notebooks to practice journaling. They can use these notebooks to complete some SEL activities as well as identify what emotions they are experiencing.

The students at our school are proactive when it comes to advocating for themselves and their mental health, and I would like to continue to provide them with the necessary tools and resources when they request and/or need assistance.

The goal for this project is to have more supplies for students to learn and apply self-regulation techniques.
