Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are asking for supplies to help address some of the harder parts of day to day life for the high school student. We are in a Title 1 school, and even though harder scenarios are not unique to our school, there is a large number of students from very low-income areas that deal with responsibilities that no child should really have to. I have a reading/relax area in my math classroom that I often use with students that just really need that brain break. They use it before, during and after school almost everyday.
The supplies we are asking for will go directly towards creating a positive environment that will aide in creating good mental health.
We are asking for pencils, sharpeners and coloring books that are great at helping take the mental load off, tissue because you can never have enough, dry erase markers are often used by my students to doodle on specific whiteboards in my room set aside for that, a way to more easily store the many board games I keep in my room because the boxes are falling apart, and a rolling tote to more easily transport the supplies and even books since I often bring many of my items to other classes and after school programs that we often host.
