Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a mental health provider also known as a "feelings teacher" at an Elementary School that teaches PreKinder - 5th Grade. I provide socio-emotional support to all members of the school community including teachers, parents and students.
Help me create a safe space for my students when their emotions are too big for them to handle.
I plan on creating a calming room filled with resources and tools they can use to de-escalate and relax. Kenetic sand, coloring books, stress balls and squishy toys will be used to help teach different coping skills to students.
The emotion and social skills books requested will be used to help the students better understand their triggers. The books requested will also encourage students to utilize skills such as feeling identification and communication to express their needs and wants before they feel overwhelmed.
