Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a Chicago Public School that is in an underserved community with high social-emotional needs. As a single school counselor, I see approximately 420 students for either direct or indirect services. Supplies are limited and the budget is even more limited. Many supplies are needed to aid my students in learning how to cope with trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, etc. I buy most supplies using my personal funds, but the students need so much more than I can provide on my own. With support from donors I can have more supplies on hand to make my classroom a safe and calming place to go when students are struggling to self-regulate.
