This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a school counselor, I work with our youngest learners—kindergarten through second grade—who are still learning how to name their feelings, handle big emotions, and navigate friendships. For many, picture books offer a gentle and effective way to explore these important social-emotional skills during individual counseling sessions.
I am seeking support to build a curated library of Social Emotional Learning books that address topics such as anxiety, grief, trauma, anger, self-esteem, impulse control, and kindness.
These books and manuals will be used one-on-one to help students connect with characters who are experiencing similar emotions and learn strategies they can use in their own lives.
