Your support means more than you know and has already made a meaningful difference in the lives of my students.\r\n\r\nAs a school counselor working with Transitional Kindergarten through Second Grade students, I often support young children who are just beginning to understand and express their emotions. Many of them struggle to recognize what they're feeling, let alone find the words to talk about it. That's why your contribution is so valuable—these journals serve as a bridge to help students begin that important process of emotional awareness and expression.\r\n\r\nWhat makes these journals particularly special is that they offer flexibility. Some of my students love to draw pictures as a way to express themselves. For them, drawing can feel less intimidating than writing, and it becomes a powerful outlet to show what's going on inside. Others enjoy writing or dictating their thoughts, especially as they develop their early literacy skills. These journals support both preferences, giving every student a way to reflect in a way that feels comfortable and natural to them.\r\n\r\nSince receiving your donation, I've been able to introduce the journals in a variety of settings. I've used them with my Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students, who are just beginning to develop language for their emotions. I've also used them with Kindergarteners and First and Second Grade students, many of whom are working through challenges such as anxiety, frustration, friendship issues, or changes at home. The journals have become a key part of my counseling work, whether I'm meeting with students one-on-one or in small groups.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding things to witness is a student flipping back through their journal pages and recognizing how they've grown. Whether it's through drawings that become more detailed over time or written reflections that show an increasing ability to name and manage their emotions, the journals help reinforce a sense of progress and self-understanding. For students who may not have access to these kinds of tools at home, your donation has provided something truly special—a safe space for self-expression and a tool for building emotional intelligence at an early age.\r\n\r\nYour generosity directly supports not only academic readiness but also emotional development, which is just as important. These journals are more than paper and binding—they are tools for healing, reflection, and growth. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746785392221,"projectUrl":"project/feelings-journals-for-social-emotional-l/9152566/","projectTitle":"Feelings Journals for Social-Emotional Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gutierrez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8113010_orig.jpg?crop=3584,3584,x1514,y682&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717696001558","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/farmdale-counselor"},{"teacherId":9563228,"projectId":8935098,"letterContent":"The calm down corner has been a great help!
