it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Mental Health is an important part of teaching now!
Helping students regulate their emotions and find ways to support positive mental health keeps kids focused on learning!
This project includes things to support mental health in each of my three classrooms.
For Credit Recovery, students who have struggled learning in the regular classroom are trying to do independent learning to make up credits they have failed. I have two classes and have moved my Coffee House themed English classroom over to this room. We need to restock the reward system and give students who are often down on themselves a quick pick-me-up when they are able to meet one of their classroom goals.
For Drama classes, the monologues and books will help students express their stories about Mental Health. Students will perform these for the school and community.
Finally, in our Student Council class, we will begin creating our Calming Corner in the Cyber Cafe. The Mental Health games, cushions and posters will help us create the safe space. We may even add the Coffee House in the room if there are enough supplies. Thank you for supporting our school and this Mental Health initiative!
