My students are great students. Many of them live in poverty. Their parents are often supportive but tend to lack the financial means to help with fundraisers that typically buy extra things for the school. My students work hard each day, to be the best that they can be. They are like little sponges who absorb every piece of knowledge that is provided to them. This makes them some of the best students that I have ever encountered. They have very promising futures ahead of them!
My Project
After students lose a loved one, they experience many emotions. One of the responsibilities of being a counselor is to help students as they work through their grief. Many times, I make memory boxes with students to allow them a box to store items that remind them of their loved one who passed.
Students enjoy decorating their boxes with foam stickers and making the boxes personable.
My students need these materials so that they can have a positive experience as they work through their grief. This year, 11 of my students have lost a parent or grandparent. These boxes would help my students tremendously!
