Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school and are from diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds, namely Bangladeshi, Chinese, Hispanic, and French. 95% of them are Latino and African America. The rest are sparsely mixed with other ethnicities. In my classroom, there are students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities.

My students are a active bunch who like to get acknowledged for their hard work especially those who have behavioral issues and do not really like school.

They are always requesting to have their pictures taken while they're working so that they can show it to their parents. In order to preserve the precious memories of their school life, having this piece of technology will be an excellent tool. They'll get to see themselves being engaged in collaborative interactions with their peers via photographs which will not only boost their confidence but will motivate them to want to attend school every day.

My Project

My students need a camera and SD memory card to secure their memories. My students are constantly making and creating memories. Therefore, I'm always taking pictures of them engaging in different activities. Taking photographs of them with a camera is a good way to document or chronicle the process of learning. After printing their pictures, I usually ask students to explain the thought behind what they're doing and then add my comments. This, in turn, will give the students the opportunity to reflect on what they're doing. This is how they really learn. By the end of the year, they will start to pay attention to the reflective part of their work and focus on what they do.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to boost children's performance but also connect parents with what their children are learning in the classroom by way of a visual connection.

Since parents are not in the classroom with the students, sharing what their children are doing in the classroom, via photograph or video gives them a window as it were into the daily academic lives of their children.
