My Students
I have an amazing group of students in my classroom. What makes them special is not only their individual personalities, but their ability to navigate through their academic day with a variety of learning hurdles. Personally, I am most amazed by their ability to continue to inspire me to be a better educator. Through the inspiration that I have received from my students, I recently began a doctoral program with an emphasis in special education. As much as my students have inspired me, I not only want to be able to provide the most purposeful learning for them, but to all students whom I encounter.
We're located in Washington DC, in an area that is ever changing.
With these changes comes information regarding strategies to improve and support students receiving special education services. To support my students and the research that I am conducting in my program, I would like to renew my membership with the Council of Exceptional Children.

This is a professional association of educators dedicated to advancing the success of children with exceptionalities.
There are very few organizations that cater specifically to the educational needs of this population of students. Becoming a member of CEC doesn't just end with receiving a network of specialized instruction teachers. There are also opportunities for professional development with options that work for teachers.
Additionally, I am interested in the literature that this organization provides. Being able to receive resources specific to my student population, opportunities to travel for conferences related to resources received, and the ability to provide input during novel studies is an opportunity that will be ongoing and endless. I am hoping that you will see the benefits in this organization!
