I need a Premiere Membership with the Council for Exceptional Children to further provide quality instruction to my students and to collaborate with a number of special education teachers from all over the world!
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Woods's classroom raised $295

My Students
My students come to school every day filled with excitement and an eagerness to learn. No matter the subject, they put forth an effort with getting the job done. Together, we have been having an amazing school year. Students have been able to improve in reading, writing, and math and we have a bit of time to see more growth before the end of the school year. While I am always excited about their educational success, I know that there is still much that I have to learn to be able to meet their needs. Specifically, their needs for specialized instruction as they each have a disability that impairs their regular day to day activities.
We're located in Washington, DC in an area that is abundant with resources outside of school.
We also haven't done too bad with some of the school resources provided to us from Donors Choose. For me, part of me bringing quality instruction for my students stems from collaboration with colleagues who teach the same discipline. As opposed to connecting via email, I believe that I have found an organization that will not only cater to student needs, but will expand my professional learning network.
My Project
As a teacher of students with disabilities, I always want to be on the pulse of anything new that will contribute to their academic and social success. With no students performing the same, I know that I will have to be informed on new strategies for success and activities for learning that will make each day successful. As opposed to collaborating with a very small network of educators in this role, I would like to network with colleagues on a much broader level.
The Council of Exceptional Children aligns perfectly with my role as an Exceptional Needs teacher!
This is a professional association of educators dedicated to advancing the success of children with exceptionalities. There are very little organizations that cater specifically to the educational needs of this population of students. Becoming a member of CEC doesn't just end with receiving a network of specialized instruction teachers. There are also opportunities for professional development with options that work for teachers.
Additionally, I am interested in the literature that this organization provides. Being able to receive resources specific to my student population, opportunities to travel for conferences related to resources received, and the ability to provide input during novel studies is an opportunity that will be ongoing and endless. I am hoping that you will see the benefits in this organization!
