Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 5th grade Dual Language teacher in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Dual Language teachers need materials in both languages but unfortunately there are not sufficient funds available to make all of the purchases for our classrooms.
I would like to engage my 5th graders in a Mem Fox author study. Mem Fox is from Australia. She brings her experiences in Australia come alive in her books.
Mem Fox will be thoroughly studied and the children will know all about the different animals that she mentions in her books that are from Australia. Her books will also be used for shared reading. Her literature provides an opportunity to teach intonation.
Mem Fox will provide knowledge for my students through her beautiful literature.
