This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love my students’ enthusiasm and resilience. They have shown remarkable progress throughout the year, and their eagerness to learn inspires me every day. Each student brings a unique perspective and energy to the classroom, making our learning environment vibrant and dynamic.

The guitar and ottoman chairs will play a crucial role in enhancing our learning experience.

By musicalizing poems, I aim to provide an auditory input that will help my students better comprehend and retain the elements of poetry. For example, we will use the guitar to set poems to music, making them more engaging and memorable. The ottoman chairs will create a comfortable and inviting space for small group instruction, allowing me to provide targeted support and create a more welcoming learning environment. This setup will enable us to break down complex poetic elements and discuss them in a relaxed setting, enhancing students’ understanding and enjoyment of literature.

My primary goal is to improve my students’ reading comprehension and readiness for the upcoming STAAR test. By integrating music into our poetry lessons, I hope to make the learning process more enjoyable and effective. I want my students to be able to identify the elements of poetry with confidence and to develop a deeper appreciation for literature. Additionally, I aim to create a supportive and nurturing environment where each student feels valued and motivated to succeed.

My students are incredibly special because of their determination and growth mindset. Despite facing various challenges, they have made progress in their academic and social-emotional development. Their willingness to embrace new learning methods and their ability to support one another truly sets them apart. I am proud of their achievements and excited to see how these resources will further enhance their learning journey.
