Meeting Their Needs, One Sensory Tool at a Time

Help me give my students the sensory support that they need to help them regulate their emotions, focus on tasks, and engage in learning. We are seeking donations to help us purchase the variety of sensory tools needed.

My Project

Our classroom is home to 6 incredible students in grades three through five who are part of a special education program for children with moderate to severe needs. Each of our students is unique in their strengths and needs, and they thrive in a structured, supportive, and sensory aware environment.

Many of our students have sensory processing challenges, or developmental delays, which can make it difficult for them to remain focused, and regulated throughout the school day.

Transitions, loud noises, and overstimulation can lead to moments of frustration or shutdowns, impacting their ability to learn and interact.

The sensory items in this project, such as fidget tools, sensory bins, rugs, weighted lap pads will provide essential support. These tools will help students:

-Self-regulate during stressful moments

-Stay focused during lessons and activities

-Engage in learning without being overwhelmed

-Reducing anxiety during transitions or noisy environments

-Develop coping strategies they can use throughout their school day.

-Rugs will be used to define areas, such as meeting area and the calm/sensory area.

These resources will be used during sensory breaks. For many of our students, sensory tools are not just helpful - they are vital to their ability to access education. With your support, we can give our students the sensory input they need to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day.
