My Students

I teach 250 seventh, eighth, and ninth graders at a junior high school in a suburb of Utah. The entire school population is roughly 1,000 students. I am the only band teacher in the school, which is very common in Utah. I see my students every other day. As the year goes by, it is fun for me to witness the progress.

The school population is racially and economically diverse, with a good portion of the students on free and/or reduced-price lunch and/or breakfast.

However, some students spend their spring breaks in Hawaii. One of our school goals is that every student can learn. It is a joy to work with these students.

My Project

We just received notice in Utah that we are no longer allowed to have students purchase their music books. This offer came at the perfect time. I was wondering where we would get the funding to purchase these materials.

With the purchase of these Standards of Excellent Books, each student will have his/her own personal music book from which to learn.

It is vital that each student have the necessary materials to progress.

Since we have been learning from home, students will be able to have these books at home and not just a classroom set to share. Thank you for your consideration in funding this project.
