My school is located in an urban area of Wisconsin and has a very diverse population of students. Thirty percent of my students are English language learners and fifteen percent receive special education services. Forty percent of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged.
My students are groups of highly motivated students who love engaging and creative ways to show their learning.
I feel that it is my job to make sure that my students have experiences that are positive and that create opportunities for community building, so that my students have a strong sense of ownership over their own learning as well as that of their classmates and have a sense of belonging to the school community.
My Project
As the year goes on, students lose more and more of their materials, so I am asking for these materials to help supplement for the students who don't have what they need to be successful!
If I am able to give my students these materials, then they are able to focus on the more important things like teaching and learning with each other!
The pencils, notebooks, and rulers are going to help them do the in class work every day! When the students have what they need, they feel better-- less stressed about starting class; they can also begin their work right away, so we can have more time to spend learning! The stools will brighten up the classroom and provide a fun place for students to sit! The stools give the students freedom of movement-- both with their body because they don't have a back, but also they are easier to move and take up less space than chairs.
