Meeting the Need Through Choose Love

Help me give my students art supplies and other tools needed to express their learning as they progress in our school's social emotional program, Choose Love.

My Project

Due to COVID 19, my students need more support in adjusting to the academic and social demands of school. The supplies requested will allow my students to create artwork that reflects their learning as we go through our SEL Choose Love Program and to help bridge the learning gap.

Through this program, students will create art that expresses what they've learned about courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion.

A donation of art tools such as paint, colored pencils, crayons, and card stock will allow my students to create artwork that reflect the core values they are learning about. We also kindly ask for magnet hooks and velcro in order to display their artwork along the walls of our classroom.

Some of these supplies will also be used to support our students with special needs. Dry erase sleeves, and jelly boards allow my students alternative means to participate and respond during class. The chair bands will provide an outlet for movement so that they may focus on learning. Special pencils and playdoh tools will also support their fine motor development. Hand puppets will be used to assist students to express themselves verbally and to act out difficult situations.

In order to address the some of the academic needs, we plan to utilize learning centers geared toward our students' academic levels. Zipper pouches, and velcro will help our students to keep their centers organized and to stay on task. Working on the iPad will also be one of our learning centers. Our students do lessons on iReady and read books through Epic everyday. A donation of kid-friendly headphones will help to ensure that they can work quietly and be able to clearly hear the lesson without distraction.
