Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students attend a public, elementary school on the southwest side of Chicago. The majority of my students are second-generation Mexican Americans. The school has a greater than 98 percent low-income rate. My students have various special needs. Many have ADHD, some have autism while others struggle with learning disabilities. They have trouble communicating and forget what they are assigned to do.

My students have so much potential and come to school excited to learn every day.

Sometimes they come hungry, thirsty and sometimes they have not showered or brushed their teeth. This causes some of the students to be victimized by their peers. They are still young and need to be cared for by adults. If the adults in their houses are not meeting their basic needs, I will be here to provide them with what they need with your generous support. If you are hungry or dirty it is hard to focus on learning. My students struggle enough with focusing, they do not need anything else getting in the way of their success.
